After defeating and beheading Corradino, the last obstacle between him and the throne of the kingdom of Sicily, Charles of Anjou settles down to govern his new kingdom… and make a mess if it, to the point that the island of Sicily rises up in one of the most important popular and successful rebellion in medical history, the Sicilian Vespers.
We take a look at the aftermath of the battle of Legnano which saw the forces of the Lombard League victorious against Holy Roman Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. Then we take a quick look at the third and fourth Crusades.
In this episode we see how the Lombards start to settle down and get to know the neighbourhood and the troublesome neighbours as they go through an interregnum of the Dukes before they get back to electing a king and bashing the Byzantines
