4th anniversary episode

To celebrate our 4th anniversary we have a couple of announcements and a special guest episode:

First of all, we are launching a new 21 episode podcast: “The K-Rock Chelsea Hotel” all about one of the most important icons of popular counter culture: the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan, NY, with episodes on Edith Piaf, Janis Joplin, Edie Sedgwick, Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock and many many more

Then, we are very pleased to announce (supposedly) reaching 1 million global listens!

Finally, the guest episode Mike did on “The History of England podcast” in which he and David spoke about 14th century Italy around the time of the mercenary adventurer John Hawkwood

088 – Twilight of the communes

Before saying goodbye to the 13th century, we take a quick tour of the peninsula to tie up some loose ends, such as the maritime republics, Piedmont and the situation with the communes.

077 – The situation in the 13th century and revenge in Florence

We take a look at how our communes are evolving in the 13th century with the whole messy Guelphs and Ghibellines business and have a look at the legend of how the factions were formed in Florence with the tragic tale of Buondelmonte dei Buondelmonti, a real soap opera, Florentine style.
